Palworld Breeding Calculator

Data verified for Palworld 1.0

Find out exactly what hatches from any two Pals — and work backwards from any Pal to every parent pair that produces it. This palworld breeding calculator runs on verified 1.0 breeding data (299 Pals, 164 special combos, 44,851 parent pairs), so it will not give you the stale pre-1.0 answers still sitting at the top of search results. Pick two parents below, or use the reverse breeding calculator to find the easiest pair for the Pal you actually want.

Pre-1.0 guides are outdated: the July 2026 update rescaled every breeding power and rewrote the combo table. If another tool still shows the old 10–1500 scale, its answers are wrong on thousands of pairs.

Gender only changes the result for Katress + Wixen — picking a gender here automatically sets the other parent to the opposite one.

How breeding works in Palworld 1.0

Every Pal species has a hidden breeding power (community name: CombiRank). Lower means rarer and stronger — Astralym sits at 10, common starters near 3000 (Lamball 3050, Chikipi 3080). The game resolves a pair in a fixed order: special combos first (164 fixed pairs, including every elemental variant), then same-species pairs (which always breed true), then the formula over the 183-PAL formula pool: target = floor((parent A power + parent B power + 1) / 2), and the child is the pool Pal whose power is closest to that target.

Worked example: Penking (2070) + Bushi (1560) → target floor(3631 / 2) = 1815 → the nearest pool power is Sibelyx (1810), because the only closer candidate, Xenovader (1820), is special-only and never comes out of the formula. On an exact tie, this calculator picks the Pal listed earlier in the 1.0 power table (the lower breeding power) — a documented rule, stated here rather than hidden.

Special breeding combos

Special combos are the reason a plain formula calculator is not enough. They produce every elemental variant — Ignis, Cryst, Noct, Terra, Lux, Aqua, Botan, Primo and Gild — plus the Terraria crossover Pals and the legendaries that breed true. Some verified ones to know: Relaxaurus + Sparkit = Relaxaurus Lux, Frostallion + Helzephyr = Frostallion Noct, Lyleen + Menasting = Lyleen Noct, Mossanda + Grizzbolt = Mossanda Lux, Penking + Rayhound = Penking Lux, Pyrin + Katress = Pyrin Noct, Mammorest + Wumpo = Mammorest Cryst, Incineram + Maraith = Incineram Noct. Use the reverse lookup above for the full list behind any Pal — including the 26 Pals whose only route is a same-species pair.

Best breeding pairs in 1.0 (and routes that no longer work)

The pairs players actually ask about, verified against 1.0 data: Penking + Bushi = Sibelyx (the pair old guides wrongly list as Anubis), Frostallion + Helzephyr = Frostallion Noct, Lyleen + Menasting = Lyleen Noct. And three routes to stop using: Mossanda + Rayhound does not give Grizzbolt anymore (Grizzbolt is Grizzbolt + Grizzbolt only), Kitsun + Astegon does not give Shadowbeak (Shadowbeak is Shadowbeak + Shadowbeak only), and no mixed pair produces Jetragon, Paladius, Necromus, Faleris or Orserk — breed them with their own species or not at all.

Breeding Farm, cake and passives

Breeding needs a Breeding Farm (Technology Level 19; 100 Wood, 20 Stone, 50 Fiber), one male and one female assigned, and one Cake per attempt in the farm chest (5 Flour, 8 Red Berries, 7 Milk, 8 Eggs, 2 Honey, cooked at a Cooking Pot). Eggs hatch in an Egg Incubator; rarer Pals take longer. Species is deterministic, but passives are the gamble: offspring inherit from the parents\' combined pool (maximum 4), and a passive neither parent has can only appear as a random roll — so put Legend, Musclehead, Ferocious, Swift, Artisan, Lucky, Work Slave or Serious on the parents before you start chaining. The 1.0 Mutation and Awakening systems and advanced cakes (Mushroom, Vegetable, Extravagant Vegetable, Special) boost stats, egg count, mutation chance or passive inheritance, but they never change which species hatches.

Limitations

  • Tie-break: when two pool Pals sit exactly as close to the formula target, this calculator picks the lower breeding power, per the 1.0 power table order. Sources disagree on this edge case (see FAQ), so if an in-game test contradicts it, the rule is a one-line change.
  • No passive odds: passive inheritance chances are community estimates, not game data, so this tool does not invent percentages for them.
  • Two Pals cannot breed at all: Panthalus and Astralym cannot enter a Breeding Farm; the calculator says so rather than returning a child.
  • Data date: powers and combos are the Palworld 1.0 dataset (July 2026), fetched 2026-10-28. A future patch that renumbers powers would need a data refresh.

Data sources

Breeding powers and special combos: palworldonline.net — pals.csv and combos.csv (game version 1.0, derived from the tylercamp/palcalc game-data export; documentation at palworldonline.net/data). Data fetched and validated 2026-10-28: 299 Pals, 164 special-combo rows, 183-PAL formula pool, 28 same-species rows, 2 gender-dependent rows. If you play on a controller, our gamepad tester checks every button and stick before a long breeding session, and the D&D HP calculator covers the same kind of stat math for tabletop games.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Palworld breeding calculator work?
It follows the game's own resolution order. First it checks the 164 special breeding combos (fixed pairs that override everything, including all elemental variants). Then same-species pairs, which always breed true. Everything else uses the breeding formula: the child is the Pal whose breeding power is closest to floor((parent A power + parent B power + 1) / 2), searching only the 183-PAL formula pool. The result box shows which rule produced your child and the exact math.
Is this calculator updated for Palworld 1.0?
Yes. Every breeding power and special combo here comes from the Palworld 1.0 game data (the 10 July 2026 update rescaled every breeding power to a 10–3100 range and rewrote the combo table). Older guides still show the pre-1.0 10–1500 scale and pairs that no longer work — if a guide tells you Penking + Bushi makes Anubis, it is out of date: in 1.0 that pair makes Sibelyx.
Can you breed legendaries like Jetragon?
Only with themselves. Jetragon, Paladius, Necromus, Shadowbeak, Grizzbolt, Lyleen, Faleris, Orserk and the other special-only Pals can never come out of the breeding formula — their only routes are their special combo or a same-species pair. Jetragon + Jetragon = Jetragon, and there is no mixed pair that produces a Jetragon.
Why can't I get Shadowbeak or Grizzbolt from normal pairs?
Because both are special-only in 1.0. Shadowbeak comes only from Shadowbeak + Shadowbeak, and Grizzbolt only from Grizzbolt + Grizzbolt. The old routes you may remember — Kitsun + Astegon for Shadowbeak, Mossanda + Rayhound for Grizzbolt — were removed in 1.0 and no longer work.
What is the Katress + Wixen gender rule?
It is the only gender-dependent combo in the game. Female Katress + male Wixen produces Katress Ignis, while male Katress + female Wixen produces Wixen Noct. Every other pair works the same regardless of which parent is male or female — you just need one of each. Use the gender selectors above to try both directions.
Which Pals cannot breed at all?
Panthalus and Astralym. Neither can enter a Breeding Farm, so no pair involving them produces an egg — the calculator says so explicitly instead of guessing a child.
What do I need to breed in-game?
A Breeding Farm (Technology Level 19; 100 Wood, 20 Stone, 50 Fiber), one male and one female Pal assigned to it, and one Cake per attempt in the farm chest. Cake = 5 Flour, 8 Red Berries, 7 Milk, 8 Eggs, 2 Honey, cooked at a Cooking Pot. The egg goes into an Egg Incubator to hatch — rarer Pals take longer.
Do offspring inherit their parents' passive skills?
Species is deterministic — this calculator always gives the same child for the same parents — but passives are the gamble. Offspring inherit from the parents' combined passive pool (maximum 4 passives), and a passive neither parent has can only appear as a random roll. That is why breeders chase Legend, Musclehead, Ferocious, Swift, Artisan, Lucky, Work Slave and Serious on the parents first.
What about Mutation, Awakening and advanced cakes?
Those are 1.0 systems that sit on top of breeding — advanced cakes (Mushroom, Vegetable, Extravagant Vegetable, Special) boost offspring stats, egg count, mutation chance or passive inheritance — but they do not change which species hatches. This calculator answers the species question only, which is the part every other tool gets wrong on old data.
Why do different calculators give different children for the same pair?
Almost always: stale data. Tools built before 1.0 use the old 10–1500 power scale, so thousands of their answers are wrong now. A second cause is the tie-break: when two Pals sit exactly as close to the formula target, this calculator picks the one listed earlier in the 1.0 power table (the lower breeding power). That rule is documented on the page, not hidden.
